Set a definition for organic rank before writing the dashboard. Does it count only standard organic product cards? Do carousels count? Where do sponsored modules fit? Different definitions can produce different rankings from the same page.
If an ASIN is absent from the captured pages, label it “not observed within the collected range.” Assigning it rank zero would imply it outranked the first result; assigning a made-up rank below the range would create evidence you never collected.
Combine visibility with review research
Suppose several competing ASINs repeatedly appear for “compact travel kettle.” Search observations identify those competitors. Reviews can then help explain objections about weight, capacity, leakage, or plug compatibility.
Join the datasets using ASIN and marketplace where available, while keeping their dates and sampling methods separate. The result can show that a frequently visible product has complaints about a feature. It cannot prove that those complaints caused a ranking movement.

Common errors that weaken Amazon rank reports
- Counting sponsored position as organic position.
